My December Reading List
Welcome to the beginning of December! November was quite a hectic month ranging from starting a new job to joining blogging communities. But here I am. Still standing. While I still have two more books to start and finish before we get too deep into December, I thought I would give a tiny review on one book I did manage to get through at the end of November.
My reading list included:
Love Warrior by Glennon Doyle
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
Women Who Run With The Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D.
The only book out of those three I managed to finish so far was Love Warrior by Glennon Doyle.
First of all, everyone needs to read Love Warrior. This book is a light in a dark tunnel. It not only holds a precious story of growth and transformation of an amazing woman, but it gives readers the key to feeling fulfilled and finding peace within our own souls.
I do not want to go too much in depth, as that will give away too many spoilers. But the condensed summary is that this book is a memoir of growth from lowest points to reaching a height of acceptance and happiness. Glennon Doyle is a woman who has been through it all. In the beginning of the book, she details her insecurities from childhood to adulthood and her fears as a mother and a wife. The latter part of the book goes through her journey through the end of her marriage and her finally finding herself and acceptance for her true self.
This book was gorgeously written, riveting, and a real page-turner. There were parts that drew me into pure joy, and the author was completely relatable. Some parts of the book voiced my own fears in regards to the negative possibilities of my marriage. But overall this book was amazing. I rate Love Warrior by Glennon Doyle 10 out of 10 stars for her beautiful story and spectacular writing.
I have yet to read the second and third book on my list so I can’t give a good review quite yet, that will be coming in a later post. But I was recommended The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by my sister. This book is a call to action. It alerts you to reevaluate your life by focusing on only really important things to care about, instead of focusing your attention on some off-handing comment a stranger said the other day. Or if someone did something that upset you. I tend to get hung up on the little things, so I hope that this book will help me redirect my focus to things that are more important.
Women Who Run With The Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype is a book I came across on a reading list years back. In my continual journey toward self-growth and as I get further into my mid-twenties, I have started to notice how powerful being a woman can be. I have sought to defy societal norms put upon my gender and while I wouldn’t say I am a cut and dry feminist, I am all for women empowerment. This book is about finding the truly wild nature inside you as a woman and embracing your creative and feminine abilities with no strings attached.
I do hope I hold onto something meaningful out of these next two books. What books are on your reading list for December? Comment down below!
